9 month update

I completely missed this month. I looked up at the date today and realized it was the 12th! How did that happen???

Weight: 18 lb 1 oz

Height:  30.35"

Percentiles:
Height: 95th percentile
Weight: 13th percentile He's lost a lot of weight with his stomach flu :(

Eating:  We've started eating table food. Since he moved up to the bigger baby class, he eats all regular food. They don't feed him baby food anymore. :(
At home I'll still feed him oatmeal for breakfast if we're not having something that's easy to cut up for him. After watching Emi choke her first year, I'm still pretty cautious about bacon. But he's eaten pancakes and biscuits and waffles and all the other normal breakfast foods.

For lunch I've given him small pieces of chicken or veggies and fruit.
For dinner if the dinner isn't too spicy, I just give him what we're eating or I'll steam veggies for him.

He's still taking 4 bottles though. I think I could probably drop the early morning one, but it's just easier to give him a bottle when he wakes up before we get to school. Maybe this month I'll start reducing that bottle so it's not so sudden.

Bedtime: Still around 7:30. On the weekends maybe closer to 8, but this doesn't change very much.

Awake: He's slept in a couple times until almost 8. But weekdays he's usually up between 5:30-6:30. I try to keep him in his crib until 6:00.

Naps: He's taking 2 solid naps per day. One morning and one afternoon. Usually one or the other is longer, but they're still both over an hour.

Diapers: We're still finishing off our 3s, but I did buy my first box of 4s so as soon as we finish the 3s we'll move up.

Clothes: Pretty much all 12 month. Some of the pants are a little baggy, but 9 mo stuff doesn't cover the bottoms of his legs.

Favorites: He loves the Christmas tree. He's been much harder to keep away than Emi ever was.
He loves bath time now that we ditched the baby bath. He takes it with Emi and loves it.
He loves playing with balls. He'll roll one across the floor, crawl after it and then do it again.
He loves music.
He loves the dogs.
He loves to be outside. He's getting a swing to add to our swing set for Christmas and he's going to love it. He used one at Thanksgiving and laughed the whole time.

Dislikes: Still hates diaper changing. He claps at you when he doesn't like something which I think is hilarious. So when I'm changing his diaper or wiping his nose, he'll clap at me.
This month we finally had tubes put in our ears. He was cranky the day of, but his ears have been so much better.
He also caught a stomach bug this month which we're still dealing with. It's so sad because he can't keep much down.
He still hates socks which has been a problem now that the weather is cooler.

Latest accomplishment: Nothing new this month. He's perfecting his crawling and getting into everything he's not supposed to. I didn't have to baby proof much with Emi except plug up the outlets and lock up the chemicals. But Eli has already eaten dog food, put something in the toilet that didn't below, and has an obsession with outlets. He's going to keep me on my toes.

8 Month

Weight: 18 lb 8 oz according to my home scale

Eating:  We're almost down to 3 meals per day. This past weekend I tried it out and it worked pretty well. So no more early bottle or nighttime bottle!

Bedtime: Still shooting for 7:30, but this weekend we experimented with staying up until 7:45-8:00. He slept in until 7:15 on Saturday, and I guess we'll see if it worked again tomorrow.

Awake: He struggled with the time change; especially with me being on vacation. But since I've been home, we're back to the normal 6:30ish. This weekend he slept until 7:15 though.

Naps: Getting a shorter morning nap, but a pretty long afternoon nap! Love it! So much better than the cat naps he used to like so much.

Diapers: Next box I buy will be 4s. For now, he's technically still in 3s. At this point with Emi, my post says we had just moved up to 3s!

Clothes: 9-12 if it's a one piece. If I buy anything new, it's 12 month. He's tall and skinny so pants are still hard like Emi!

Favorites: He started crawling so he only likes to be on the move.
He loves his walker car and is doing much better at maneuvering in it.

He loves his mommy! Especially since she left for 10 days.
He loves eating finger foods.

Dislikes: Still hates socks. Since the weather got cooler, that's making getting dressed more difficult.
He hates to be laid down on the diaper changer.

He hates not being able to move. Being held is not his favorite, unless you're moving with him.

Latest accomplishment: This was a big month for him. He started army crawling. He got his 2 bottom teeth. He started sitting up so he sits in the big boy high chair, can ride in the grocery cart, and no longer needs the infant bath insert! He also started clapping.

7 Month Update

Weight: 17 lb 2 oz

Eating:  He usually has a bottle between 5:30-6:30, 2 at day care, and more at home. He's also eating 2-3 baby food jars each day depending how the timing at day care.
On weekends I feed him breakfast (cereal/oatmeal), lunch (some sort of veggie or fruit) and then dinner (some sort of meat mixture).

Bedtime: Still shooting for anywhere between 7-7:30. He'd go to bed before if I'd let him, but he'd be up that much earlier.

Awake: He is FINALLY sleeping through the night!
He usually wakes up around 5:30 and during the week, we just get up and get going.
On the weekends though, he wakes up at 5:30, I give him a bottle, and then he'll sleep for about an hour or hour and a half.

Naps: He's taking 2 decent naps a day now, one morning and one afternoon. Sometimes they're only 45 minutes like normal, but I'm getting more hour+ naps from him now too. Yay!

Diapers: He's still in 3, but I swear he could probably wear 4s.

Clothes: Mostly 9 mos. Even 9 month pants fit him for the most part. Onesies I've been buying in 12 mo in hopes that they'll fit him longer than a month.
I feel like we skipped 6 month clothes. Even 6-9 is too small now. So it's all 9+.

Favorites: He loves Emi so much. He thinks everything she does is hilarious even when I think it's super annoying. It's impossible to feed him when she's running around, because he wants to watch whatever she's doing.
He loves eating his feet, especially if he's wearing socks.
He likes being on the floor with toys.

Dislikes: He hates socks. They last a whole 2 minutes before they're off and in his mouth.
He also caught a bacterial infection that is in the strep family so he had to take another round of antibiotics. He can't catch a break.
The day after he turned 6 months, he took a hard tumble. We were getting our last diaper change and heading to bed. While he was on the dresser, I was digging in the drawer looking for Vicks because his cough had come back. He kept trying to roll over so I strapped him in. He got frustrated with me for not letting him roll over so he launched himself off the dresser even though I was standing right next to him. We took him to the ER because he was acting strange, couldn't stay awake, and started violently throwing up.
They did a CT which came back clean. After being in the ER about an hour, he started acting completely normal again. The next day we had to follow concussion norms and watch for strange behavior so I stayed home with him. Scariest night EVER!!
He also had another ear infection she we had to use the Recephrin injections. This was a hard month for little guy!!

Latest accomplishment: SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! HALLELUJAH!
He's also started the backwards crawl, but that's not nearly as exciting as sleeping through the night! ;)

He started holding his bottle.
He's almost sitting up. I guess I forgot to document when Emi started doing that but based on my pictures, it looks like some time between 7 and 8 months, so maybe we'll start that soon. That would sure help bath time since he's outgrown his baby bath. It would also be nice to sit in a high chair or a grocery cart without the car seat!
