She's one month old!!

1 month Stats
Weight: 8 lbs 12 oz
Length: not sure, but I know she’s grown long!
Eating: We haven’t really gotten a schedule down yet. Working on it…
Bedtime: I usually feed her between 10:30-11:00 and then I can get her to bed. I’m trying to get her in bed at the earlier feeding but she doesn’t like to be in her bed alone.
Awake: We do a feeding between 5:00-6:00 and then she usually goes back to bed until 9:00 or so.
Naps: My baby is not a good napper. She’s very sporadic. We’re working on this too!
Diapers: Still in newborns
Clothes: newborns except the PJs with feet. She’s too long for those.
Favorites: She loves to be held, baths, sleeping on her tummy, the hair dryer and vacuum, her play mat, being outside, and loud noises.
Dislikes: Being still, diaper changes, swaddling, being left alone, getting out of the bath.
Latest Tricks: She’s rolled over 3 separate times now.

Emilia's birthday story

At my 37 week appointment I was told that she was head down and getting large so we scheduled an induction date for May 3rd, 2 days before her actual due date. We were supposed to go in at 5:30 AM on Friday. We were later bumped to 7:30 because a lot of babies had been born that week.
We went in at 7:30 and they admitted us and got us checked into our room. By 8:30 they had started the ripening process. They said that would take 4 hours and then they would come check on me. Meanwhile contractions started that weren’t too bad but were noticeable. After 4 hours they checked and there had not been any progress so they gave me another dose. They said that if in 4 more hours I had still not made any progress I would have 3 options, C-section, another dose or go home and come back another time.
After 8 hours I still had made no progress despite the fact that contractions had picked up and were completely uncomfortable. We decided that we would go home and then come back Saturday at 7:00 PM to start another approach and then hopefully induce Sunday. My mom went home back to Mesquite and Anthony’s mom took Bella with her back to her house in Richardson. The nurses had encouraged us to go get something to eat and to eat Saturday before coming back in since it would be a really long process. I wanted Mexican so we went to Blue Goose. Anthony wasn’t feeling well so he didn’t eat much, but he did have a few margaritas.
Anthony was going to go to the dock to fish with his sister but since he wasn’t feeling well he decided not to and instead took a really hot eucalyptus bath. I was pretty upset about how things turned out so I took a shower and went to bed to watch T.V.
At about 8:30 I felt a pop inside my body which didn’t feel or sound like anything I had ever felt before so I go up to go to the bathroom to make sure everything was O.K. which is when a flood started. Anthony was still in the bathtub but as soon as I realized what had happened he jumped up and started panicking. He was hollering to me to hurry up and to grab a towel and calling everyone on the phone.
I called my mom who had literally just pulled into the driveway as we drove back to the hospital. At this time contractions were fast and painful.
When we got checked back in a nurse did a check on me to see how far along we were. She informed us that she did not think our baby was head down unless it was an “alien” baby and that she could stick her fingers through it’s head. I was upset at this point so I didn’t respond, but afterwards I was pretty upset at her lack of couth and professionalism.
They brought in the sonogram machine to confirm that she was indeed breech. I had to wait for them to get the doctor and to prep me for the c-section. Meanwhile I was upset, disappointed and in pain!
The c-section itself wasn’t too bad despite what I imagined. It felt really fast although I think it took about an hour. My mom hasn’t returned by the time they took me back so she convinced the doctor to let her come back before they started.
Anthony videoed the entire thing and even made comments and jokes with the doctor. He later became known as the margarita dad because he told everyone that he had had margaritas during his break.
Once she was out they immediately took her to the table to do everything they needed to do. I thought they would show her to me or bring her to me but I didn’t see her until they took be back to my labor and delivery room. I don’t remember a lot between getting sewn up and going to my post partum room except being really cold.
She was born at 9:58 PM and was 7 pounds, 6 ounces. She is absolutely beautiful.
We were released Monday before lunch but because she was slightly jaundice we had to go to the doctor on Tuesday to check her levels which were good.
Tomorrow is her one-week appointment and Friday we have to go to Scottish Rite to have her checked for hip dysplasia which is common in breech born babies. If she has hip dysplasia she will have to wear a brace to help her hips grow into the right location. Hopefully that appointment will go well and we won’t have to do that.
As of today feeding is getting easier but night time sleeping no so much. She will sleep on one of us but not in her cradle. She’s really easy in the day time though so it all balances out.
We are absolutely in love and enjoy every second with her!

I'll post a picture later

How far along? 38 weeks

Size of baby? My app still says the size of a watermelon

Heartbeat? 156 BPM. Apparently I said 300BPM last week. It was 130. Not sure why it says 300. That would be crazy!

Total weight gain/loss? Forgot to weigh yesterday. I’ll weight later today and update.

Maternity clothes? I hope I’m done buying new maternity clothes until the end!

Stretch marks? I have one on BOTH hips now. UGH!

Sleep? Still getting up every 2-3 hours to use the restroom and it still hurts to move, but at least I’m sleeping soundly when I am asleep.

Best moment this week? Ending the 5th six weeks so that I’m now ready for a sub to take over at any time.

Movement? She moves more at night now, but is pretty still during the day except a few sharp jabs.

Food cravings? Nothing new. Just fruit. The milk one has mostly passed.

Gender predictions? GIRL- Emilia Grace

What I miss: Having more patience. Right now I’m at the end of my rope at work.

What I'm looking forward to: The end!!

How are you feeling? I just have to keep telling myself that it’s almost over. I know it could be way worse so I try to be grateful.

week 37

Size of baby? My app says the size of a watermelon. I guess it’s a watermelon 36 and 37 weeks.

Heartbeat? It was 300 BPM again

Total weight gain/loss? +18. I had less sweets this week

Maternity clothes? Hopefully I’m done buying anything else. I bought a few more things for maternity pics but surely I can make what I have work for the last few weeks.

Stretch marks? Just the one on my hip

Sleep? Still getting up every 2-2 2/1 hours and it still hurts to move but at least I’m sleeping

Best moment this week? The doctor said she’s head down so we’re not talking about planned c-sections anymore!

Movement? She’s not moving as much, but it hurts a little more when she does now.

Food cravings? Fruite. I’ve really wanted some fruit this weekend.

Gender predictions? GIRL- Emilia Grace

What I miss: Being able to stay up past 8:00

36 weeks- 4 more left!

I'll switch this pic out for one of me standing as soon as they're emailed to me.

How far along? 36 weeks

Size of baby? My app says the size of a watermelon- I sure feel like there’s a watermelon in there!!!

Heartbeat? I finally remembered to ask- 130 BPM

Total weight gain/loss? +20. Ugh!! Was it stupid of me to hope it would cap out at 15??

Maternity clothes? I keep trying not to buy things, but I really need some short sleeve shirts to make in the next couple weeks.

Stretch marks? There’s a really small one on my right hip but it’s there and I know it.

Sleep? I sleep fine minus the 3-4 trips to the bathroom, but after 3 hours I feel like I must not have slept at all. I think I could sleep for days and still be tired!!

Best moment this week? I had my last family shower and got most of what I need for when she gets here. I also got some things hung on the walls so the nursery is just about completely finished. It’s cute too!

Movement? I had a bruise last week from some of her movements!

Food cravings? Not really.

Gender predictions? GIRL- Emilia Grace

What I miss: Not hurting in every part of my body!! I feel like someone has run over me with a tractor most of the time. Getting up to use the restroom at night takes every ounce of energy I have because it feels like bones are broken when I move them!

What I'm looking forward to: Being off this Friday and getting a hair cut!!! Lots of people promised me luscious locks while I was pregnant and that NEVER happened. It grows MUCH faster, but it’s too heavy and just hangs there. Plus the baby hairs that grew never laid down. It’s a bad situation up there!

How are you feeling? I can’t really complain about sickness. I’m just exhausted and feel like someone has beat me to a pulp! And I’m pretty much uncomfortable ALL the time. I very thankful that the end is in sight!
